Spring 2018 AFP Consortium Meeting Update

by Jack Condon

The AFP Consortium met in beautiful La Ciotat, France, in March 2018 to exchange ideas and chart the course of the Consortium. Many thanks to core member Xerox for hosting us at this charming location on the French Riviera!
At this meeting, we continued to work on:
  • Designing and documenting AFP Metadata, keeping best practices for maximum utility and performance in mind
  • Exploring AFP support for color overprint applications
  • Making AFP more attractive to the next generation of production and commercial decision makers and application developers
Other topics discussed at the meeting included:
  • Publication of new references for MO:DCA and Line Data in the months leading up to the Spring 2018 meeting
  • Support for emerging Bar Code (BCOCA) technologies
  • Discussions about how to support signed and validated AFP documents, with an eye toward encryption and compression
The meeting was well attended with members of the AFP Consortium from around the world. The strength, value, and quality of AFP are a direct result of the efforts of our membership and the vast experience they bring to the table.
Our next meeting will be in Boulder in the Fall of 2018, and I cannot wait to see where we take AFP next!
