Spring 2024 AFP Consortium Meeting Recap: Work Continues on Enhanced AFP Security, AFP User Survey Created

By Jack Condon
In April 2024, the AFP Consortium membership gathered together for our Spring Meeting, which was hosted by Ricoh and held in beautiful Boulder, Colorado.

At this meeting, we continued to work on the Encrypted Data Objects addition to AFP. This support will allow customers to encrypt and protect objects in the AFP output stream, including text, images, graphics, barcodes, object containers, and metadata.

We also held a detailed requirements review of potential future AFP Architecture enhancements. This review will be continued in the upcoming Fall meeting.

In addition, we kicked off a new AFP user survey to get feedback from AFP users about what they like about AFP and how it can be improved in the future. If you have a little time to take a brief survey, we are interested in hearing from you:  AFP Consortium user survey

Finally, a new version of the IOCA Reference was also reviewed (once the review was completed, this was published in July 2024).

Compart will be hosting our Fall meeting in Böblingen, Germany in September 2024. For those members who plan to attend in person, we are looking forward to seeing you there as we set the course for AFP in the future!
